My Favorite Accent: DIY Christmas Pillow Covers
One of my favorite elements in this year’s holiday decor are my simple DIY Christmas pillow covers. They add instant warmth and personality to my living room and set the tone for the rest of my decor. This year, I used a gorgeous red color that feels timeless and pairs beautifully with my Amazon finds. I just love how the red pillows look against these gorgeous striped chairs from Wayfair.

The Mantel: Natural Greenery with a Touch of Gold
The fireplace is always the first place I decorate, and this year’s mantel might be my favorite yet. I started with a 9-ft Real Touch Artificial Cedar Garland to create a lush, realistic base. It looks just like fresh cedar pine but without the mess of needles on the floor.
To add texture, I tucked in a few red berry stems and a pinecone strand, and placed a few candle sticks and my new favorite tree candles tapers on the mantle. I also added a rustic ceramic vase and Real Touch Norfolk Stems inside.

Above the garland, I hung a vintage gold frame and wood frames filled with vintage Christmas prints. It’s such an easy project that adds instant charm and creates a beautiful focal point above the fireplace.
Greenery in Every Corner
Greenery is one of the easiest ways to instantly make your home feel cozy. I repeated it throughout the room to keep the look consistent and finished. On each side of the fireplace, I hung 24-inch Norfolk pine wreaths tied with red velvet ribbon. The deep green against the rich red feels elegant and traditional.
I added smaller Christmas prints in a variety of frames to go throughout the house. It ties everything together and adds that natural, organic feel I love.

For extra depth, try mixing different types of greenery like cedar and Norfolk. The variation in texture makes everything look fuller and more realistic.
The Tree: Simple, Elegant, and Timeless
The Christmas tree always sets the mood for the entire room. I love putting up my tree early and only having lights on it. Then in December, I’ll add my ornaments. I chose a 7.5ft Pre-Lit Scotch Pine Christmas Tree for its warm lights and full, realistic branches. Around the base, I used a 26-inch wood tree stand cover to give it a clean, polished finish that hides the stand and adds natural texture.

If you’re decorating in a neutral palette, this style of tree blends beautifully. It feels cozy, classic, and perfectly balanced. Though I love the look of a real tree, I don’t love pine needles falling everywhere, having to remember to water it, and the drooping branches. Not to mention, mine always seemed to die two weeks after setting it up.
So instead, I opt for a faux tree that’s super easy to set up. This particular tree comes in 3 sections, each pre-lit, and can be set up in about 5 minutes after the initial spreading of all the branches. Next year will even go faster!
Finishing Touches That Complete the Look
It’s the small accents that bring everything together. A Christmas reindeer figurine on a shelf or side table adds a playful detail. Tree-shaped tapered candles look beautiful on the mantel, while gold bell ornaments can add a soft glow to the coffee table.
To balance the greenery and metallics, I used a white antique terra cotta vase and a rustic ceramic vase filled with a variety of Norfolk pine stems. The organic texture of the vases softens the room and adds that natural, cozy touch that makes a space feel lived-in and loved.

A few gold bell ornaments scattered throughout the space and a touch of red velvet ribbon on the mantel finish the look beautifully.
Easy Styling Tips for Cozy Christmas Decor
If you’re decorating for Christmas and want a look that feels intentional and inviting, here are a few simple ways to pull it together.
1. Choose a color story: Pick two or three main colors and repeat them throughout your home. I used green, gold, and red this year to create a timeless palette that feels both festive and refined.
2. Layer textures: Combine greenery with wood, ceramic, baskets, velvet, and soft fabrics. This gives your décor depth and visual interest.
3. Keep it cohesive: Repeat similar greenery or accents in different rooms so your entire home feels connected.
4. Add one personal touch: Even if most of your décor is store-bought, include something handmade like DIY Christmas pillow covers to make your space feel unique and meaningful.
5. Create soft lighting: Use candles, twinkle lights, and warm bulbs to bring a cozy glow to every corner of your home.
