 A look back

We grew our tiny company quickly out of our small office,  and bought a bigger home that had a big basement for our warehouse. After a year, we outgrew that space and got a bigger office space. In between these two years we sold $4,200,000. We had several retailers across the country and the brand was thriving. We shipped thousands of packages from that basement and had a handful of employees helping us. We had loads of fun and learned like crazy along the way. We continued to develop the philanthropic portion of our business. We took 3 of our kids and our partners 3 kids to Nicaragua and gave away uniforms to all the kids in 3 different schools. We also worked with the locals who were making the uniforms for us. It was so rewarding. We provided lots of employment, made incredible memories and built forever friendships!

2011-2012

Humble beginnings!

That year we had our 5th child and decided to start a clothing company without ANY skills in apparel. We wanted to have an impact in the world and help children in need. We decided we would donate a school uniform to a child in Central America for every dress we sold.
The good part about being young is that even the most difficult things seem possible. With determination and lots of grit, I started designing and sewing and creating the patterns for our new company Persnickety Clothing.
In 2010 we sold $250,000 of clothing for little girls. After selling retail through farmers markets, home parties, and the mall, we decided to sell wholesale. We rented a tiny house for our office so we could get out of our house.

The work + excitement from growth

We expanded our manufacturing efforts and did some manufacturing over sees. Manufacturing was a tricky area that took a lot of effort with the complexity of our product. It was very expensive to do in the USA, but we continued too anyway. US made definitely made us unique, kept quality amazing, and we took great pride in having things done at home. Our customers appreciated it too! By this time we had donated 30,000 school uniforms and helped employ several individuals from Nicaragua. Some of which are still dear friends.

2015-2016

There are so many moving parts of our business and we were trying to balance and learn all the best practices and making a combo of good and bad choices along the way. It was a huge journey, lots of management, and many complex things. We got a bigger office, tried a fulfillment center and then decided to fulfill ourselves and got a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse/office space. We took another philanthropy trip to Nicaragua and took our oldest daughter with us. We did 12,000,000 in sales in these two years. We were feeling huge growing pains and looked to bring on an investor to help with capitol. We decided not to which was a bad choice looking back in hindsight.

We had our 6th child! A little boy who we all adored to pieces. He was a huge blessing in so many ways. Life changed for the better. We started Tiny Threads Clothing. We scaled Persnickety way back so I could focus on
family and re-set. We stopped selling wholesale and sold direct to consumer.

Our family changed when our son went on a 2 year mission to Brazil, we moved to a farm, got a horse, and started a home remodel. I did a minimal amount of design during this time but released a handful of collections over the couple year period. I loved being home full time with my children and we dove into the home projects.

2019-2022

The time finally came when I felt the call to re-ignite some life into business again. With loads of ideas and excitement to pour into learning so many things, I am now here with a huge desire to teach the things I have learned over this past 15 years.  Life still continues to be crazy. Our oldest son got married, we moved from the farm and bought a lot to build on, our baby started kindergarten, we had our first grandbaby and the second coming soon, my 3rd son got home from his mission, and we are just as busy as ever and though life has thrown us many challanges, we are feeling so many blessings. We are excited for this new chapter of life and look forward to what it will teach us. With years of many roles and loads of life and business experience, I am here to share it all with you. I hope I can inspire you to do something that lights you up and allows you to do a work that is fulfilling and wildly successful for you.

Sewing the
seeds of love!

Our family was back together for a few months when my son returned home, and then our daughter left to serve a mission in Wisconsin/Canada. My main focus was my family and our home. We transformed our property into a small farm, built a green house, got bees, planted 14 fruit trees, and planted a garden. I fell in love with growing food and flowers. Life was wholesome.
We got a pregnant Jersey milk cow, our 3rd child went on a mission to NYC, life on the farm was bustling, the remodel is still going strong, I was pouring all of my creativity into home and family and didn't do much with the business at this time. My daughter got married and we had a beautiful wedding. I knew the time would come again to devote to it, but I was needed at home for now.

Here is a little peak at my work through the years with my two clothing brands.

I started Persnickety back in 2009 and Tiny Threads in 2017.
The business models are very different, Persnickety being a boutique brand that we sold to retailers across the entire country and some international, and Tiny Threads we went direct to consumer and primarily used influencer marketing and sold directly on our own website.

We put a strong emphasis on our branding by creating a lifestyle brand that people could really envision how their children would look and feel in our clothing. Creating a strong emotional connection through images that evoke nostalgic feelings an emotional connection.

The Primer

Your mind is a garden,
Your thoughts are the seeds
And you can have flowers
Or you can have weeds

When your dreams feel impossible, something good is on the horizon. Don't give up at this moment, because God has something good just right around the corner. It won't be easy, but it will be worth it!

What I'm

loving

My baby granddaughters chubby thighs in her bathing suit & baby grandson's itty bitty squeaks. Summer runs with my husband and son. Early morning fresh air with all the yummy blooming scents. Sunday evenings with my family.

What I'm

learning

A whole new way of marketing using social media. This is new for me and very intimidating. I always hid behind my brand and didn't show myself. I am learning all kinds of new systems and technology which is stretching my brain to whole new levels. It hurts!

What I'm

all about

Creating a space where success and prosperity can take place for those who want to cultivate their talents and get their art into the world and gain financial abundance for themselves + their family.

what I

believe

That God has placed within each of us the ability to create. Sometimes we do not see it within ourselves and we need someone else who can draw that out of us by planting us in the right soil so we can bloom.
